It is true that this man has presided over one of the worst presidencies in history, he lost international support for America, fought a war that no one believed in...but should we have thrown respect out of the window and booed him?
I think it is a sign of true failure. You can loose an argument and hold onto respect, you can approve something i disagree with a remain respected, but if you loose the people...you get booed on your way out.
This shows the total lack of class of the "Bush haters." I don't like the guy, but he was the president for God's sake, so show him the respect of the office, even if you don't respect the person filling it. That was one of those moments that makes me ashamed to be American. You people who booed, you know who you are -- some of you might be reading Mal's blog, so you might find your way to this comment -- you have NO CLASS.

ReplyDeleteWould have to agree. I was no fan but c'mon. It would have been more effective to remain completely silent. I think it was a demonstration of intellectual immaturity. He was not an evil man, just very bad at his job in my opinion. But he was the man in the arena and right or wrong, stood by his convictions. I disagreed with him but do give him credit for keeping us safe from additional attacks after 9/11. I wish he and his family good luck and god speed (and as far away from the White House as possible :-)
