Michael Phelps

WHY????

The best young sportsman in the world, an idol for millions of kids!!!

I have friends who have met him and he's a nice guy, who made a VERY common mistake, (let he who hath not sinned cast the first stone), in college, at a party.  He needs to come out strong apologizing and condoning the use of drugs, and offer his services to DARE or something. I can also imagine why some of these young athlete's go off the deep end when they have some free,"party" time. If I got up at 5 am every morning to go competitive swimming training for hours, then school work, then more training, then sleep, then start all over again, I'm sorry but if I get to go to a party, I might just let rip a bit!!

Thoughts peeps.

  1. Ok, this is a tough one. On one hand, I agree that he eff'd up royally. He is an international sports icon...the all american boy and the whole lot (as Mal would say). I mean, you have to know that you're going to be in the spotlight and watch what you do and NOT do bong hits in public. That's just obvious. I think he should apologize profusely and publically in some reputible media venue. However, I also feel for him. Living in a fishbowl is not something anyone can prepare themself for nor do I think it's fair that the rest of the world thinks it's their right to follow every move celebrities, be they sports figures or actors, make and pass judgement. Just imagine all the crazy nights you've had and imagine how you'd feel if everything you did when being silly with your friends caused an international uproar. It's not right. People need their private lives to be private. Yes, they made a choice to be famous in some form but I do not think it should be at the cost of giving up their entire lives to gossip/scandal seeking cynical folks. That's my two cents.
